The new Doctor is in (I am talking about Doctor Who, of course). I have to say, as much as I love David Tennant, Matt Smith is pretty good. There is much of the old Doctor in him (still fond of running, it seems), which makes the transition easier. Also, I think the decision to have this episode written by Moffat was very wise.

Rereading Abhorsen by Garth Nix, which is part one of a really good trilogy about, among other things, magic, dead people, and talking dogs and cats. It's sometimes listed as YA fantasy, but it's good no matter how old you are.
